FAKTOR YANG BERHUBUNGAN DENGAN HASIL TES PROKALSITONIN PADA SEPSIS Studi kasus di RSUP dr. Kariadi Semarang
Factor associated procalcitonin test results in sepsis Case studi in RSUP dr. Kariadi Semarang
Background: Sepsis if not promptly diagnosed and treated will lead to failure of organ function that eventually causes death. Procalcitonin is the earliest biomarker of sepsis was detected in the blood. The diagnosis of sepsis is closely related tho blood culture as gold standart. This study aims to determine the factors that affect procalcitonin test in sepsis with positive culture.
Material and methods: observational analytic study with cross sectional design. Samples were taken with consecutive sampling from patient suspected sepsis’ medical records in dr. Kariadi hospital May – December 2011. Inclusion criteria are data were procalcitonin test. Exclusion criteria are data were not blood culture. Cut-off criteria based procalcitonin used in dr. Kariadi hospital and proHOSP criteria. Data analysis used Chi-Square test.
Resuts: The results of blood cultures do not have a significant association with outcome in sepsis procalcitonin test according to the criteria used in dr. Kariadi hospital and proHOSP criteria. Clinical stage of sepsis and sepsis underlying diseases by type of infection had a significant association with outcome in sepsis procalcitonin test according to the criteria used in dr. Kariadi hospital and proHOSP criteria.
Conclusion: According to the criteria used in dr. Kariadi hospital, the underlying disease sepsis have the greatest relationship with procalcitonin test results. Need for research with a sample of more, prospective methods, and more specific criteria.
Key words: factors affecting, procalcitonin, culture, sepsis.
